Stable and cheap energy sources for seawater distillation

Properly designed “Solid Stellar Energy”(SSE) energy source can provide an autonomous power supply for see water distillation facilities. The power of this “Solid Stellar Energy”(SSE) source will depend on the power needed for such amount of pure water on the output.

In 2024, As of 2024, global desalination capacity is around 100-120 million m³/day, meaning the total annual freshwater production from desalination worldwide is approximately 36-44 billion cubic meters this year. The global power consumption for seawater desalination is estimated to be around 80-100 TWh, based on the capacity of desalination plants worldwide.

2025-2030 Global Power Consumption Estimate: Medium Case: If desalination capacity grows at a rate of 7-10% per year, total power consumption for desalination could reach 120-150 TWh per year by 2025, and 180-250 TWh by 2030.High Case: If the adoption of desalination grows more aggressively (especially with new projects coming online), the power consumption could exceed 300 TWh per year by 2030.
